Taking out the middleman and allowing farmers to trade livestock directly with each other.
Working closely with the Dev and Test leads I led a small team of UX designers and FED's as we built this well received site from start to finish.
Day long design sessions with the product owner were the cornerstone to this sites success. It gave us a great headstart each sprint, giving us more time to explore and refine.
APPROACH
We took an Agile, mobile first approach to build, with rapid design/ development workflows,
then multiple refinements.
VISUALS
The creation of wireframes and visual mock-ups started to become inter-woven at a fairly early stage. This gave time for the
visual experience to grow along the project lifecycle.
Often visual elements are created too early, as a sort of quick win that everybody can understand
, but in truth seldom have much relation to the end design. On the other side, tacking some sparkles over the wireframes before
the FED performs is short-sighted and is a recipe for uninspired utilitarian layouts that tick the requirements boxes but fail
to engage and delight users.
RESPONSIVE LAYOUTS
We used a modified Bootstrap grid system for our templates. This creates a sense of familiarity throughout the site.
Per template we created two wireframes - wide and mobile, with mobile created first.
Further along these were turned into 5/6 visual mock-ups per template. Seems like a lot right? Well it's a real time saver when it comes to FED.
The devils in the detail when it comes to the varying flows between states. By being precise and descriptive with your design your FED will thank you later.
